Do you ever just want to indulge in a food holiday (like National Ice Cream Day, on the third Sunday in July and International Pizza and Beer Day which is October 9), but stop yourself because you’re trying to be healthy?
I teach all of my clients that it’s ok to enjoy ALL foods and encourage them to indulge, because this actually leads to a much healthier relationship with food, and fewer food cravings and binges. But what if you want to indulge and you are avoiding or minimizing gluten, or just want to do it in a healthier way?
Fortunately, there are some easy health hacks you can use and products you can choose that will still allow you to enjoy a healthy, gluten free and, most importantly, delicious Pizza & Beer Day.
My fave GF pizza is Milton’s. I make this for both my gluten free and gluten consuming friends and they all love it. The cauliflower crust is perfectly crispy and the flavor beats most other frozen pizzas, in my book.
I always try to pair my mains with veggies, like a big green salad with a simple dressing (I like balsamic and EVOO) plus some tomato and avo. It only takes minutes to throw together but packs a big nutritional punch.
Adding fiber rich veggies, roasted or raw, elevates the typical pizza night to something more filling and gourmet feeling. When it comes to eating healthy I always try to encourage people to focus on what foods they can add in (rather than take out) to make a meal more balanced, colorful, and satisfying.
For drinks, I like this GF beer and also this GF non alcoholic option.
I hope this helped to show you that it is totally possible to be healthy, GF, and still enjoy your favorite foods and food holidays.
